Somebody thinks it is so
common and old. But for me, this is a good car. It is a very nice and
reliable car with simple and elegant design. It has very good mileage,
34/43 MPG that beats many current cars. Every thing is manual, such as
manual transaxle, manual window, no power steering, even no clock.
I like manual. It is a good to build a solid fundament of skills of
driving. Shifting clutch is much stiffer than other cars. So does the
clutch pad. I changed to use Redline Manual Transaxle Lubricant (Redline MTL) for the clutch. It is still a lot stiff. I am accustomed to this
stiff and like it. So far, whenever I drive a car with a light shifter.
I always feel it just likes a toy and I am going to break it. With this
car, my objective is driving safely, precisely and smoothly.
On Nov 23rd, 2001, the
night is so dark and you cannot see your finger outside. Wind was
blowing and the street was empty. The lights along the street went bad
apparently. At that night a tragedy happens on my car. a red grand

over my car when I moved my car just out of a parking lot. After I
flattened the hood, there still was a scar on my car, shown in the
picture below.
This year, I bought a
used hood from the junk yard. I repainted the hood. I did body works and
replaced the old one. This civic rebirth. Take a look at the photo.
I am so familiar with
this car. I rebuilt and replaced a lot of parts in this car. I trust
this car and I am confident that it will run up to 200K miles. Now
I feel I can go farther to drive a FR car or AWD car.
I am looking for my
second car. I don't want to buy a new one. New cars have warranty but I
like to mod a car. This is a contradiction. I have some requirements on
my second car. It must be FR or AWD; it have four seats; it must be
manual; it must be compact. It doesn't have too be a strong car. Toyota
Corolla AE 86 is a famous FR car. I believe people who know Initial D
must know AE86 a lot. It satisfies all my requirements however it
belongs to the last era and very hard to find one. Three kinds of cars
go into my circle. They are
Nissan 240sx [FR]
Subaru Impreza [AWD]
Eagle Talon [AWD]
I hope I can find one of
them before this winter. So I can enjoy the snow later.
