Inserting Batteries

The first step is putting batteries into the camera. Please follow the procedure below:

1. Turn Off the Camera
   Turn the mode dial to the OFF position.
2. Open the Battery Cover
   Turn the camera upside down. If the camera is on a tripod, detach the tripod before installing batteries because the tripod blocks the battery bay.
   Slide the latch to the open position, slip the cover out from the camera, and open the lid (see the figure below).

3. Insert Batteries
   Insert the batteries with the positive (+) and negative (-) poles aligned as show in the diagram at the entrance to the battery bay (see the figure below).

4. Close the Battery Cover
   Close the cover, slide it back into position, and slide the latch back to lock the cover.
