Determining the Firmware Version

All operations of the 2500 are handled by a piece of software built into the camera. This program is usually referred to as a firmware. A new version of firmware not only eliminates some existing problems, but also introduces certain improvements. Therefore, knowing the version of the firmware being used is important.

To determine the version of firmware, turn off the camera and then hold the MENU button (top image below) while sliding the mode selector to the shooting mode. The LCD monitor should display a message as shown below:

The message has a form of E2500Vx.y, where x.y is the version number. As of this writing, the most recent version is 1.1 as shown in the image above. Please click here for firmware update information.
