About Me

I have been enrolled as a graduate student at Michigan Technological University since the fall semester of 2005. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the field of computer science. My research focuses on increasing the real (as opposed to theoretical) throughput of superscalar processors. My research adviser is Dr. Soner Önder.

I have two B.S. degrees from Northern Michigan University: one in philosophy and one in computer science, both received in 2005. I also have an M.S. degree in computer science from MTU, received at the end of 2007.

Most recently, I have worked as a teaching assistant for the computer science department at Michigan Tech, where I was alternately responsible for the basic (cs1121) and accelerated (cs1131) introductory Java programming classes. I taught for seven semesters in total, and enjoyed (nearly) every minute of it! For the most part, my students enjoyed it as well. Some even wrote comments about me on ratemyprofessor.com, which you can see here.

Teaching has been one of my favorite jobs, but I have also (at various times in my life) worked as a: web programmer, classroom media assistant, construction worker, electrician's assistant, sales associate at a hardware store, busboy and grunt in a cherry orchard, to name just a few! I've learned something from every job I've held and I think it's pretty obvious that I like to experience variety in my life!
